The profile of students we aim to create a Colegio Ikigai is first and foremost passionate about life. They take academic risks, but in a manner that is authentic and reflective about their learning. It is essential to the school that we create independent learners, humans who can make their own decisions in life, but in a manner that is enthusiastic and optimistic about the future of the world. We want learners who are adaptable and able to think on their feet but yet have the confidence to be thoughtful about the world around them. We recognize the difference between knowledge, skills, and understanding in our curriculum, but it is always our goal as a school, to develop a deep understanding of the wider world outside of our classroom walls. We want our children to be self-confident enough to make an impact on the world, but our goal is to create in the children a strong sense of empathy and love for those less fortunate around the world.
The values we aim to demonstrate on a daily basis at Colegio Ikigai are honesty, responsibility, respect, integrity, and honor. We are proud that our values are visible values and we ask that all members of the school community, uphold and promote these values at all times. We promote emotionally intelligent solutions to any conflict in our community and we have the ability to meditate on any conflict through the lens of these five important values.
Colegio Ikigai recognizes the importance of teaching our students how to think like successful leaders. We have identified four Ikigai Mindsets that we believe ate vital to future success.
An Abundance Mindset (A way of thinking about the world that allows future leaders to know they have the access to all the resources they need to make themselves successful.)
An Exponential Mindset (A way of thinking about a digital future, that acknowledges that success can easily be achieved, through dramatically and quickly scaling solutions.)
A Purpose Driven Mindset (A way of thinking about the future, that firmly creates purpose and leadership drive in the lives of our children.)
Moonshot Thinking (A way of the thinking that challenges the children to make creative solutions to the world's largest and most wicked problem, but gives them the confidence to overcome challenges.) An Ikigai student will learn to think like 21st-century leader.
The school will offer all its students a uniform. There are three items to the uniform. A polo t-shirt in the four different colors of the school. SCHOOL LIFE
SOCIAL AND EMOCIONAL LEARNING
The school aims to be a safe emotional space for all our students, teachers and parents, and wider community members. Each student will follow the SEAL programme of study from the UK, with the object of teaching and reflecting on these key areas; self-awareness and self-value, managing feelings, motivation, empathy, and social skills. We aim to generate a strong sense of belonging in our school and this is only possible if our students have a positive perception of themselves and how they value their own self-worth. How we teach our children to manage their own feelings and control their impulses is vital for future success. We aim to teach our children how to set goals, how to be resilient, how to be persistent, and how to be self-motivated. After the pandemic, we will be focusing on social skills and putting a strong emphasis on how to be a good friend and good classmate.
